Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

is a type of diabetes that is treated by either exercise/diet control or tablets. Type 2 diabetes is also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes as insulin injections are not required. It can effect people at any age, however people are at a higher risk of contracting diabetes if they are overweight or/and have an unhealthy diet.

Life insurance, income protection and critical illness policies are more difficult to get for sufferers of Type 2 diabetes. If however the diabetes is controlled it is often possible to get policies at an increased premium.
