Obesity

is a condition whereby person is excessively overweight due to excess fat within the body. Obesity is often indicated by an individual's BMI (Body Mass Index) being over 30 kg/m2. Unfortunately the BMI scale does not take into account muscle or an individual's frame and therefore can be an unfair system.

Obesity can cause health problems and therefore makes sufferers more prone to premium increases and declinatures on insurance policies such as life insurance, income protection and critical illness cover.
